Congenital Bronchoesophageal Fistula in Adult

Abstract

|
We have experienced a case of 42-year-old woman with congenital broncho-esophageal fistula. The patient had productive coughing since childhood.
A barium-swallowing examination showed a lower esophageal diverticulum com municating via a fistula with posterior basal segment of right lower lobe. Bronchography showed bronchiectasis in right middle and lower lobes.
At thoracotomy resection of the diverticulum, bronchoesophageal fistula, and right middle and lower lobe of lung were performed.
The postoperative course was uneventful.
